Lying between 500 to 800 meters above sea level and covering about 9,050 square km in eastern Zambia, the South Luangwa National Park is home to abundant wildlife, is ecologically diverse, and features stunning topography.   • Do you have electricity at the lodge and what type of plug sockets do you use?
    Yes we have electricity at the lodge and we use three pin square UK plug sockets.
  • What kind of personal care items are offered in the rooms?
    Shampoo, soap, body lotion, facial tissues, and towels.
  • Do the rooms have mosquito nets?
    All rooms have walk-in mosquito nets.
  • Do you have a laundry facility?
    Laundry service for room linens and towels is provided. No personal laundry services available.
  • Do you have cell phone reception and WI-FI at the lodge?
    There is little to no cell phone reception in this remote area. WI-FI is available at Njobvu Safari free of charge for guests. Wi-FI occasionally may experience limited connectivity.
  • Is it customary to tip guides and staff?
    Tipping is not expected but always enthusiastically received if you are happy with the service. Please always give tips for the staff to the management to be shared, and please tip your safari guide individually.
  • Do you cater for specific dietary requirements such as vegetarians?
    Yes we do. Please inform reservations when making your booking what your dietary requirements are.
  • Are children allowed at Njobvu Safari?
    Yes, children are welcome at Njobvu Safari. Any child over 13 is considered full price.
  • What methods of payment do you accept?
    We accept Kwacha cash, Visa, Master Card, and American Express credit/debit cards.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Cancellation fees will be charged as below depending on how far in advance the booking is cancelled: Cancelled between 120 – 91 days before arrival = 25% of the cost of the booking Cancelled between 90 - 61 days before arrival = 50% of the cost of the booking Cancelled between 60 - 45 days before arrival = 75% of the cost of the booking Cancelled within 45 days before arrival = 100% of the cost of the booking Any cancellations due to unexpected COVID 19 related issues with be issued a full refund.
  • Are the park entry fees an additional cost?
    Park fees are subject to change and therefore are an additional cost.
  • When is the best time to travel and what to expect?
    There are very distinct seasons, each with its own unique appeal. The dry months are from April till October and the wet months November till March. Temperatures range throughout the year from between 11-40 C. The 'best' time to visit depends on your interests. Please visit our When To Visit page for highlights and detailed explanations of each season.
  • Are there baggage allowances?
    It is easier to travel with soft bags not hard suitcases (this makes it easier for smaller aircrafts and to fit into vehicles.) You may visit proflights luggage infromation here.
  • What personal items should I bring?
    There are a few absolute necessities when going on safari... cameras with extra batteries and plenty of memory cards good walking shoes and also casual shoes to lounge in hat and sunscreen insect repellant adaptor for electronics light 'bush-coloured' long sleeve shirts and pants to protect from mosquitos and sun Windproof jacket, jumper or fleece for morning and evening drives A good book is a perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon between safaris. ​Binoculars Generally, casual comfortable clothing is suitable throughout the year and layers are most practical for the fluctuating day and night temperatures in Zambia.   • Is South Luangwa a Malaria area?
    Zambia is regarded as a malaria area and therefore proper prevention, by way of malaria prophylaxis is recommended. There are many different strains of Malaria requiring specific drugs. Please consult your doctor for information about prophylactic (anti Malarial) drugs.
  • Do I need vaccinations for Zambia?
    If you are travelling through South Africa, you may have to prove proof of vaccination status. For CDC recommendations click here.
  • Are there medical resources available in the area?
    The South Luangwa area is very fortunate to always have a doctor available on short notice. If necessary, the doctor can be called out for our guests.
  • How do I get to Njobvu Safari?
    International flights South African Airways, Kenya Airways and Emirates fly into Lusaka, Zambia. South African Airways, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airways fly into Lilongwe, Malawi. Getting to Mfuwe 1 hour 30 minutes flight with Proflight from Lusaka, Zambia. From Lilongwe, Malawi it is a 1 hour flight. Getting to the camp From Mfuwe Airport it is a 1 hour 15 minute road transfer to camp through some colorful village life. ​ Please see Getting Here page for more info.
  • Are there visa costs for Zambia?
    Most nationals can obtain their visa at the point of entry into Zambia. Current charges are $50 for tourists of most nationalities, including US, Canadian, British and most European countries. Please visit the Zambian Immigration website http://www.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/ for full information.
  • Are there ATMs available in town?
    ATM machines can be used for cash withdrawals. The Zambian Kwacha is the local currency. You can change Euro and USD at any bank or bureau de exchange. Credit cards are accepted within Lusaka, Livingstone and the lodge. However, outside these areas it is best to use cash. In general Visa is more widely accepted.
  • Should I get Trip Insurance?
    We highly recommend full Trip Cancellation Insurance. We do need to charge cancellation fees as stipulated. Njobvu Safari bears no responsibility for any delays, cancellation of flights or change of itinerary and retains the right to alter or cancel an activity with any just reason. Any cancellations due to unexpected COVID 19 related issues with be issued a full refund.
